Stotts Farms, owned by Damon and Peggy Stotts, Gerald and Doris Stotts and Clay and Shelly Stotts . Ranches are located in Lone Oak and Lubbock , Texas.
Primarily the cattle operations consisted of cow/calf and replacement heifer operations. The Stotts family saw a need to improve their calf crops, they needed a breed that would increase weaning weights and develop better milking replacement females. Braunvieh was the breed of choice. The Stotts evaluated the breed leading females and purchased WT Baylee 2009-2010 Dam of the Year, Queen Lady and Ms. Golden Link 3600. They also purchased several top replacement heifers to start the herd.
The ranch philosophy has always been to purchase quality instead of quantity. They also purchased the long time trait leading Braunvieh bull – J F Gage and TLC Buds Zone. They will be used extensively on the commercial Maine-Anjou and club calf herds to produce outstanding Beef Builder progeny. These crosses are in high demand across the country for replacement females. The Stotts also raise and sell a good number of cross bred Maine, Chianina, Simmental and Shorthorn club calves annually. The goal of Stotts Farms is to produce quality cattle that will be an asset to any operation. Through selective breeding, an intensive A.I. and Embryo program the Stotts should be on your list of breeders to purchase quality seedstock or show cattle in the future. The operation is aggressive in their promotion of the Braunvieh breed and recognize their responsibility to market and network with fellow cattlemen to get the good word out about the Braunvieh breed.
The Stotts family is very active in the show ring and what an up and coming star they have on the halter. Gracie Stotts, the nine year old daughter of Clay and Shelly Stotts has found success in the Braunvieh breed at an early age. She is already an accomplished showman for her age group and has a tremendous future, especially with the support of the strong family base at Stotts Farms. Stotts believe that the show ring is an avenue to promote the breed and meet other cattlemen.
Clay currently serves on the Texas Braunvieh Association Board of Directors. If you are ever in the East Texas area look the Stotts family up and go by and pay a visit, you will not find a more hospitable family. The Stotts have show heifers, replacement heifers, show steers and bulls for sale throughout the year.
